The sixth season of The Good Doctor was ordered on March 30, 2022 by ABC.[3] It premiered on October 3, 2022, and concluded on May 1, 2023.[4]
Synopsis[]
As Shaun becomes a surgical resident at St. Bonaventure Hospital’s surgical unit, he faces more responsibility and pressure. He must deal with an attack on the hospital, new residents, and Lea's high risk pregnancy, while navigate relationships to become a good leader and dad so that he can maintain his now stable life.

- Soon after the season premiered, it was announced that Brandon Larracuente, who portrays Daniel Perez, was promoted to series regular.[5]
- On February 22, 2023, it was announced that Chuku Modu would be recurring as Dr. Jared Kalu from "Old Friends" to the rest of the season.[6]
- This is the first and only season without Antonia Thomas as Dr. Claire Browne. She returned for the seventh and final season, once again as a special guest, after her previous return in the fifth season.
