On April 28, 2023, ahead of the sixth season finale, it was confirmed that Brandon Larracuente would not return for the seventh season. However, he would be open to reprise the role in a guest capacity.^[3]
On November 7, 2023, it was revealed that The Good Doctor's seventh season will consist of only 10 episodes, making it the shortest season so far. This adjustment is attributed to ongoing industry challenges, particularly the SAG-AFTRA strike, emphasizing a strategic response to ensure the show's continuity.^[4]
On November 20, 2023, it was reported that Hill Harper would not be returning for Season 7 due to him running for Senate in Michigan, which he had previously announced four months ago.^[5]
On January 9, 2024, it was confirmed that Chuku Modu would reprise his role as Jared Kalu once again as a series regular.^[6]
On January 11, 2024, it was announced that the seventh season would be the last season of The Good Doctor.^[7]^[8]^[9]^[10]
On January 18, 2024, Kayla Cromer and Wavyy Jonez were cast in recurring roles and were confirmed to make their first appearance in the second episode "Skin in the Game".^[11]
On February 22, 2024, House actor Peter Jacobson was confirmed to be appearing in "Skin in the Game", which reunited him with series creator David Shore.^[12]
On March 13, 2024, actress Lorena Bernal announced through an Instagram post that she would be guest starring in "The Overview Effect".^[13]
On March 18, 2024, Antonia Thomas and Brandon Larracuente were reported to reprise their roles as Claire Browne and Daniel Perez through guest capacities. In addition, it was also confirmed that Ruby Kelley is set to recur and Guillermo Diaz would guest star.^[14]
