Marcus Andrews is being filmed talking about his experience at St. Bonaventure. He hypes up the residency program at St. Bonaventure. Audrey Lim is then recorded as she informs Shaun and Alex Park that they we will be assigned a rigorous case and evaluated based on their performance in the OR.
In the ER, Shaun is assigned a woman, Dana Bradley, who has burns on a majority of her body. He works with Jordan who treats Dana for her pain before the woman is wheeled to the OR to debrief.
Another patient, Grant Ferlin, is wheeled into the OR. Lim assigns Park to Grant along with Asher. When walking away, Lim passes by Nurse Villanueva who is crying on the phone. Lim informs the nurse that they need everyone they can and Lim hangs up the phone. Alex does an ultrasound on Grant before wheeling him to the OR for surgery.
Shaun starts his debriefing surgery on Dana. In the viewing gallery, Andrews is interviewed again. This time he talks about Shaun and how he believes the surgeon to be a valuable asset anywhere because of his different views. Sophie asks if Andrews has always accepted Shaun. Andrews didn't but he admits that his view on Shaun has changed. Shaun is distracted as a camera person's lights are in his eyes. When they are turned off, he continues his surgery on Dana.
Morgan and Audrey watch Alex from the viewing gallery. Morgan tells Lim that Alex has great control in the OR but Lim doesn't want to hear what she has to say.
Jordan and Asher asked about Shaun's visions. Jordan reenacts Shaun's facial expressions when he gets his 'visions'. They call Shaun's visions a superpower and Sophie asks Jordan what her superpower is.
Dana is now awake in her hospital room. Shaun tells her that the surgery was a success but Dana is more focused on the cameras. She then asks to see her family which should arrive soon. When Shaun touches her face, Dana winces as she can feel the pain, although she shouldn't. Dana's daughter, Nicole, and her husband walk into the room. Nicole is afraid of her mother and she asks to go home.
Shaun is filmed as he tries to come up with a solution as to why Dana's grafts are failing. Jordan joins him in the room and Shaun doubts how well she handled Dana. Jordan admits that she skipped an hour of care because Dana wasn't feeling it.
Alex and Asher go to Grant's room. Grant is awake and accompanied by some of his firefighter colleagues. Grant is told he needs surgery again but this time for a spinal fusion. When they do the surgery, Grant won't be able to be a firefighter anymore. Grant wants to keep his job so he wants a different surgery that will allow to keep his job.
Jordan frantically looks through Dana's lab work. Lim stands nearby and asks if Jordan is okay as she can see that Jordan has been crying. Jordan's embarrassed that Shaun blamed her for Dana's issues on camera.
Villanueva finds Lim and apologizes for earlier. Villanueva needs approvals but she's working on the old system. She is unaware there is a new system because she missed training day. Because of this, she has to redo everything on the new system. Lim advises her to keep personal calls to a minimum when at work, especially when in the ER.
Lim talks to Alex and Asher about Grant who is still refusing surgery. They have thought of other types of surgery but most are risky or experimental. Alex asks Lim if she would do a risky surgery but Lim doesn't give her opinion.
Lea is asked about Shaun and she tells the camera that Shaun is brilliant, funny, and cute. When asked about Lea, Shaun hesitates in an answer before complimenting Lea's eye crinkles. Jordan interrupts the interview and informs Shaun that she is not to blame for the graft issues. Shaun asks to see the camera's footage of him operating on Dana. They show him the footage and rewind to when Dana first came into the OR. Shaun realizes that Dana has third degree burns, not second degree burns and he didn't debrief deep enough.
Morgan and Alex are interviewed. Morgan tries to take the credit for Shaun and Lea getting together but Alex calls her out, saying she can't take the credit just like the she can't take the credit for Alex and Morgan getting together. Alex leaves to practice his surgery.
Dana is told her first surgery didn't work and Jordan asks how Dana's pain level is. Dana sees herself in the camera and calls herself a monster. She's not surprised that her daughter ran away. She wants to know if she will look worse after the surgery and she will. Shaun leaves the room and Dana begins to cry.
Alex operates on a dummy that starts having cardiac arrest. Morgan finds him and gives him tips on the surgery. She thinks he should tell Grant that he's being an idiot but Alex agrees with Grant. He sympathizes because leaving the force, police or firefighter, is like leaving a family.
Jordan worries that Dana is not ready for the surgery. Shaun wants to quickly clear out the infection but Jordan believes that Dana needs to recover psychologically. When told he might be wrong, Shaun doubles down that he is right about the surgery and what to do is his decision as he's the attending. Shaun retreats to Aaron Glassman's office and leaves the camera crew outside the office so he can privacy. He complains that if the cameras weren't there, he wouldn't have been distracted and wouldn't be at fault. Glassman tells Shaun to focus on the fact that he can do the surgery but Shaun says he can't make mistakes. Shaun thinks he made the mistake of letting the camera crew film him.
Glassman is interviewed and asked if he sees himself as Shaun's protector. Glassman doesn't, not anymore. He's proud of Shaun and knows that Shaun will make it because Shaun changed. He changed because he grew up and met Lea.
At her apartment, Lea is being recorded but she wants to talk to Sophie without the cameras. Lea requests that Sophie backs off Shaun a bit because he's rattled that his mistake will end up on the show and people will think of Shaun as only a person with ASD.
Shaun watches the footage of him saying he made the mistake repeatedly. Sophie informs him that she won't use the footage of Shaun's mistake on the show. Shaun worries that will make him dishonest but the show focuses on Shaun and Lea and Shaun's life as someone with ASD. She hopes this focus gives hope to those who feel different and alone.
Alex approaches Lim and gives her Grant's case file. He's only completed the surgery Grant wants once with a partner. He requests that Lim takes the lead on the case meaning Alex will no longer be attending. Alex believes Lim is the best chance Grant has.
Sophie asks if either Shaun or Lea have cold feet about the wedding. Lea doesn't and Shaun doesn't answer. He asks if he should let Sophia remove his mistake but Lea says the decision is up to Shaun. Shaun doesn't have any nerves about marrying Lea because Lea is his person. Alone, Lea is interviewed about how she knew that Shaun was the person she wanted to marry when before Lea couldn't get with Shaun because of his ASD. When asked what changed, Lea removes her mic and she leaves the room. Sophie follows Lea who feels like Sophie is trying to embarrass her. Lea doesn't want to play the wicked witch in her and Shaun's story.
Sophie apologizes to Dana about the cameras. Dana knows that people will see her as a monster and bully Nicole for what Dana looks like. Sophie believes that Dana can be an example of how to be strong after being weak, and that will make her strong.
Lim operates on Grant with the help of Alex.
Jordan talks to Nicole but Nicole doesn't want to see Dana. Jordan realizes that Nicole is scared but to not be scared, she needs a big hug from her mom as they will make Nicole feel better. Although Dana looks different, she is the same person.
Shaun watches his hands for the surgery when Jordan joins him. Shaun asks if Jordan is joining because Shaun is the attending or because she respects his decisions. Jordan is there because she respects Shaun's decisions and one day she hopes to be a great doctor like him.
While operating, Lim asks Alex questions about the surgery. Grant's heart rate spikes because a vessel was torn. Lim stabilizes Grant but the surgery can't be completed without putting Grant's life at risk. Because of this, Alex decides to do the spinal fusion even if it is against Grant's wishes. Alex is put back as attending on the surgery.
Andrews watches Shaun do surgery on Dana but Dana become tachycardic as she's losing too much blood. They do a new approach that will have less bleeding.
Alex tells Grant that he had to do the spinal fusion because he didn't want Grant to die. Grant is upset because he trusted Alex.
Shaun leaves the OR and tells the cameras that the surgery was a success. He tells Sophie that she can use any footage she wants because someone can make a mistake and be inspirational.
Villanueva enters Lim's office where she is handed a paper. Lim has written Villanueva up. Villanueva opens up about her home life about her boyfriend and how she's experiencing domestic violence. Lim promises to help Villanueva.
Nicole comes into Dana's room. She approaches her mom and hugs her.
Morgan talks to Alex and tells him that he passed his test.
Lea is interviewed again and she answers why she can finally marry Shaun. She thought they were too different to marry each other and she worried about other people's opinions because she didn't want to be seen as different. However, Lea changed because of Shaun and she now believes that together they are more than nice. Shaun interrupts and asks if they can be surprised now.
They are both surprised by a karaoke party. A woman walks onto the stage and begins singing. When the lights is put on her, the woman is revealed to be Claire Brown. Her old colleagues cheer her on before embracing her. Shaun tells the camera: "It's Claire!"
